SENATOR PRICE, CHAIR OF BLACK CAUCUS, CONGRATULATES GABBY DOUGLAS ON SPECTACULAR GOLD MEDAL WINS AT THE SUMMER OLYMPICS

Sacramento, CA - Senator Curren D. Price, Jr., (D-Los Angeles), Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus, congratulated Gabby Douglas on her Gold Medal winning performances at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

“Gabby personifies the talent and the determination it takes to become a winner,” he said. “With poise, confidence and a steely resolve that belies her years, Gabby vanquished her gymnastic competitors and brought home the “Gold.’

“That she is the first African American in history to achieve such greatness is only a testimony to how much we can accomplish if the doors of opportunity are opened to us.

“This young lady is a role model for everyone willing to sacrifice and work hard to achieve their highest aspirations and especially for little Black girls who will see her smiling face pictured on cereal boxes and know that they too can dream and more importantly achieve their dreams.”
