CLBC’s African American Leaders for Tomorrow program for California high school students to emphasize college readiness and leadership skills

SACRAMENTO – June 28, 2013 – The nine-member California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) is seeking promising California African American high school students for their annual CLBC African American Leaders for Tomorrow (AALT) program on Wednesday, July 24 to Saturday, July 27, 2013 at California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California.

The purpose of AALT is to develop California’s future African American leaders by exposing high school students to important community, government, business and education issues. The intent of AALT is to cultivate students’ interest in public policy and expand their awareness of what its takes to become a leader.

The AALT 2013 student leadership training and college readiness program is an intensive three-and-a-half-day seminar that engages high school student participants in a series of thought provoking lectures and discussions with senior business professionals and noted academic leaders.

AALT 2013 will focus on helping high-achieving high school students acquire the tools they will need to be successful in college and beyond. Meals and lodging for AALT 2013 participants will be paid for by the CLBC.
