SACRAMENTO, CA—The California Legislative Black Caucus calls on its GOP colleagues to immediately cease its misinformation campaign against Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson.
Policy disagreements among legislators occur daily, yet when Black legislators are involved those disagreements quickly turn racist, sexist, and threatening. What’s worse is the fake ignorance that will inevitably be offered by our colleagues in defense of blatant lies to their constituents.
Any legislator, caucus, or person who knowingly mischaracterizes a piece of legislation to stir up support for a particular position is downright despicable.
We have already seen the dire consequences of radicalization in the name of righteousness. No legislator or staffer deserves to live in fear for their family’s safety. The CLBC calls on all GOP colleagues to disavow these deplorable comments being sent to our colleague and admonish anyone in our state that relegates to such behavior.
Please stop this before someone gets hurt.
