Legislature Approves Key Black Caucus Priority Bills

Press Release

SACRAMENTO, CA—The California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) announced today that several of the Road to Repair 2025 Priority Bills have successfully passed out of the house of origin and have advanced to the next house for consideration.

The measures, collectively known as the 2025 Road to Repair bill package, represent the CLBC’s continued push for justice and parity for California’s historically marginalized.

“Today, we celebrate the passage of our Road to Repair Priority Bills. This legislative package is grounded in CLBC’s commitment to address the enduring burdens of systemic racism and discrimination. We are one step closer to achieving equity, economic opportunity, and justice for Black Californians,” said CLBC Chair Akilah Weber Pierson (D-San Diego).

“As we continue to say, the CLBC is committed to repairing the harms of the past and preventing those harms from being repeated,” said CLBC Vice Chair Isaac G. Bryan (D–Los Angeles).

The CLBC forges full steam ahead with its multi-year effort to repair the generational harms caused by the cruel treatment of African slaves in the United States and decades of systematic deprivation and injustice inflicted upon Black Californians.
