CLBC Addresses California School Board of Education on LCFF Regulations

Senator Holly Mitchell, Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC), addressed the California School Board of Education (SBE) on Thursday, November 7, 2013 about their proposed regulations for the implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).

Her testimony indicated that the CLBC was concerned about the direction the proposal was taking and that so far these draft regulations seemed disingenuous to the spirit of the law and the sentiment of Members when they casted a vote in support of LCFF.

Senator Mitchell urged SBE to continue having dialogue with stake holders and that she was confident that the Board will take the concerns of the CLBC members and those of other advocates into account as they continue to move closer to the January 31, 2013 regulation adoption deadline.

She also indicated that the CLBC intends to continue working with the Board, our Governor, and his administration as the process continues, to ensure the landmark LCFF proposal realizes its full potential.
