Remembering Juneteenth

Sacramento - The CLBC Vice-Chair Senator Bradford (D Gardena) addresses his colleagues in the Senate Chambers about the importance of Juneteenth, and why June 19, 1865, was so incredible. Senator Bradford shares what it means and has meant to be freed African-Americans, and invites his fellow lawmakers to remember this special day in history.

State Assembly Celebrates Black History Month

(Sacramento)  – Assemblymember Chris Holden (D-Pasadena), Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus, led a special ceremony on the Assembly floor to mark February 2018 as Black History Month. Assemblymember Holden urged all citizens to join in celebrating the accomplishments of African Americans and noted this year’s Black History Month theme is African-Americans during a time of war.
