The CLBC recognized “Unsung Heroes” of the Civil Rights Movement, including special guest honoree Dr. Clarence Jones, who was part of Dr. Martin Luther King’s intimate circle of friends and functioned as his lawyer and personal counsel through most of Dr. King’s life. Other honorees included Harold K. Brown, Sharon Cooper, Jefferson Thomas, Dolores Hickambottom, Annetta Kelly Lawrence, and Juanita Moore.
